About
The Academic Publishing in biology (ASAPbio) is a scientist-driven initiative working to transform research communication in life sciences. In response to increasing publication timelines, ASAPbio promotes preprints and transparent peer review to create an ecosystem where research is shared rapidly and without access restrictions.
Through community building, resource development, and advocacy, ASAPbio drives change in scientific communication practices. They provide consulting services, workshops, and training while developing resources that explain preprint licensing and journal policies. Their initiatives have led to significant changes in publishing practices, with hundreds of journals adopting transparent peer review.
ASAPbio maintains active community engagement through their Fellows program and regular events, building a network of local advocates worldwide. Supported by major research foundations and agencies across the US, UK, and Canada, they work to make publishing infrastructure more accessible through community governance, open source tools, and transparent practices.
