What is accountability in research?
The ATLAS discussion on Accountability (in Research) has been extended and will now close in three days, so SIA contributors and subscribers who have not yet taken part still have time to share their perspective.
ATLAS is SIA’s open encyclopedia of research integrity terms and concepts, and each entry is tested by people working across disciplines and countries before it is updated. We are asking one question: how much do you agree with the ATLAS definition, context and example of Accountability (in Research), and how would you improve them? Responding takes two to four minutes and is fully anonymous, and you can read how others answered, react to their reasoning and revise your own position until the round closes.

CQUATRE presents two practical manuals for scientific communication with integrity: This is a great initiative! I’d also like to flag a related grassroots effort from Catalonia, which may be a useful example for the Community section.
Alongside my involvement with REACH, I collaborate with a task force group at the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC) focused on scientific policy working in collaboration with the Catalan Parliament. As part of this work, we have recently published new research integrity best-practice guidelines for science communication: :https://www.accc.cat/2026/02/03/el-cquatre-presenta-dos-manuals-practics-per-a-una-comunicacio-cientifica-amb-integritat/
Given the catalan context, a relatively small research and communication ecosystem, this kind of community-driven effort shows how research integrity initiatives can be developed, tested, and sustained at a local level, with potential relevance for other small or regional communities globally.
Happy to share more details if useful.
