Know a no-cost solution that belongs in RIPL?

Tell us about it and help grow a library of research integrity solutions open to all. Every suggestion is reviewed by the SIA Editorial Committee and eligible entries are added in monthly batches. If yours is not eligible, we will tell you why.


What we list

RIPL lists solutions available free of charge and without a time limit that support the doing, reporting or checking of research: its outputs, its data, the scholarly record, or the standards and processes behind them. Registration or a free account does not affect eligibility. Some solutions are free outright, and others offer paid tiers alongside a free version that works on its own.


What we do not list

  • Organizations, networks and coalitions. We list what they offer, not the organization itself.

  • Programming languages and the environments people write and run code in.

  • Solutions with no usable free version, whether behind a subscription, a trial limit or an institutional license. Those will appear in the SIA Marketplace from 2027.


Our criteria will develop as the library grows. If you are unsure whether something fits, send it and we will tell you.

A. The Solution

Link straight to the solution, not to the organization's homepage.

Start with a verb and skip the category. For example, write "Identifies biases that affect health research", not "Catalog that identifies biases".

What kind of solution is it? Choose the option that describes its main purpose
Repository: Stores research outputs. You can deposit into it or download from it
Catalog / Library: Indexes what exists elsewhere so people can find it. Unlike a repository, it does not hold the material itself
Registry: Records things formally or in advance: organizations, trials, preregistrations, identifiers
Glossary / Encyclopedia: Defines terms and concepts
Guideline: Tells you what to do. Often a checklist you work through as you write up or run a study
Learning Resource: Teaching material you draw on as needed, rather than a course you complete
Course: Structured teaching you work through
Discussion Primer: Frames an issue for discussion rather than prescribing an answer
Software: A tool you run to do a specific job
Assessment: Tells you how good something is. Produces a judgment about quality, risk or trustworthiness (if it ends with a judgment about something, it is an assessment, even if it looks like a checklist)
Review Venue: Where research is reviewed, rated or discussed after publication
Platform: Combines several of these functions with no single main purpose. Rare, so pick a function above if one describes it better
Commitment: A pledge or declaration an individual or organization signs
Recognition System: Awards a badge, certificate or status for meeting a standard

The organization behind the solution. Use its full name, for example "UK EQUATOR Centre" rather than "EQUATOR". If more than one, separate them with commas.
