Scientific research faces complex challenges requiring collaborative solutions across traditional boundaries. From reproducibility concerns to gaps in policy enforcement and barriers to knowledge access, these challenges threaten research quality and erode public trust in science. Traditional efforts to address these issues have often been fragmented, with individuals and organizations working in isolation. While such efforts have made valuable contributions within their respective domains, their overall impact is often constrained by the lack of cross-disciplinary coordination and broad stakeholder engagement. To address these challenges more effectively, the research community must move beyond isolated initiatives toward an integrated approach — one that fosters collaboration, leverages complementary expertise, and unites multiple stakeholders around shared principles.

This recognition led to the formation of the Science Integrity Alliance (SIA), a collaborative platform designed to transform how we approach research integrity. Guided by a shared commitment to transparency, rigor, and openness, SIA brings together initiatives, organizations and networks from around the world to address integrity challenges in a coordinated way. By fostering meaningful partnerships, this new alliance seeks to bridge gaps between disciplines, regions, and sectors, serving as a central hub where multiple stakeholders discuss and co-create pathways toward transparent practices, transformed research culture, and trustworthy science.

Connecting Previously Siloed Focus Areas

SIA’s approach goes beyond uniting the multiple actors of the research ecosystem — it also tackles another critical challenge: the disconnect between the wealth of available resources and the people who need them most. In recent years, global policy shifts have generated countless tools, guidelines, and best-practice frameworks, yet many remain scattered and difficult to find. This fragmentation makes it challenging for researchers, institutions, and policymakers to locate relevant, credible guidance.

Faced with an overwhelming volume of materials, valuable opportunities to empower communities and implement best practices are often missed. By creating unified access points, amplifying the reach of proven solutions, and collaborating to develop new ones, SIA transforms isolated knowledge into actionable change.

This mission is delivered through multiple channels, with REACH — this digital magazine — serving as SIA’s flagship publication. REACH introduces practical tools, amplifies partner initiatives, and sparks the cross-sector conversations needed to address today’s most pressing research integrity challenges.

Beyond REACH, SIA offers a complementary suite of resources helping researchers navigate integrity principles, find credible guidance, implement open practices, connect across disciplines, and improve scientific systems. SIA is also committed to refining existing resources and creating new ones based on emerging community needs. This commitment to continuous innovation also drives our collaborative project development process, where we work alongside partners to identify critical gaps in the research integrity landscape and co-create targeted solutions.
